One Year Rooted: What My First Year in Business in Michigan Taught Me
One year ago this month, I signed a sublease for a beautiful space at Clarkston Zen which opened the door — literally — to Unity Healing Institute in Michigan.
I had the trainings. I had the lineage. I had done it before in New England. What I didn't have yet was proof that I could build it here, from the ground up in my home state of Michigan, as a mother, a wife, and a woman continually becoming herself.
This month marks one year with an office in Michigan. And I want to tell you what actually happened — and what it taught me.
The year, by the numbers
In April 2026, Brandon and I moved into our own office inside the Artisan building on Dixie Highway — our current office, and the space where everything keeps unfolding.
Since then:
20 healing sessions held since October 2025 — 11 of them Life Activations, the rest were Mini Healings as a market vendor
A monthly column as a published writer for Stroll Oakhurst magazine
Two podcast appearances — Awakening Truths: MakeupYourPower: "Life Gets So Much Better," which is trending very well and Honor Your Heart's You Can Quit Smoking Podcast (episode still to come this fall) — with two more podcast interviews on the docket before the New Year.
8 Chamber events and counting, as a member of the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce.
10 vendor appearances at markets, fairs, and Artisan building events — from Peace, Love, Plants, to Food Truck Wars, to five weekends at the Springfield Farmers Market, two Women Under the Willow gatherings, and — with three more on the October 2026 calendar.

The seed and roots: Know Thyself
Years ago I began a form of study, that becomes a way of life, within The Modern Mystery School called Universal Hermetic Ray Kabbalah. One of the master teachers of Kabbalah is Ipsissima Verla Wade. I sat in one of her workshops about the Tree of Life when she spoke about your life and your business is the outward expression of your divine blueprint, and one of the quotes she’s well known for is “the way you do one thing is the way you do everything.” Which is Hermetics- The Principle of Correspondence “As Within, So Without, As Above, So Below”. So, if you Know Thyself as a divine being, then that will ripple out into your life and your business. If you don’t then what gets translated into your life and business? Whatever is not illuminated or conscious. It’s the subconscious driving things forward. In Empower Thyself Class & Initiation, I start laying the foundation for the study of Kabbalah with each of my clients, because when you’re consciously shaping your life as a divine being, you generate more goodness in the world.
Living the path of progression from the Lineage of King Salomon & The Modern Mystery School is how I’ve embraced more of my multi-dimensional self, so the toddler mom and the business networker aren't the opposite of the divine self. They're a few aspects of how I walk in the world.
The ancient axiom is Know Thyself. I've been living it since completing Empower Thyself Initiation in 2014 — through seasons of healing and service, motherhood, and becoming. This year, my mission was to live it even more deeply. And what I keep finding is this: harmony doesn't come from getting your outer world perfectly arranged (despite my best efforts). It comes from creating unity in your inner world first, and letting it radiate outward. This is the work I guide others in.
Gratitude
I'm grateful for the path that supports me with unlocking who I am and as well as in growing my strength in overcoming who I am not. I'm grateful for every client who trusts me with their becoming. I'm grateful for Brandon, who builds this beside me. I'm grateful for my toddler son, who reminds me daily what exploring life fully looks like. I'm grateful for this community — the Artisan building business owners, the Chamber, the magazine, the people who show up to my meditations on Tuesday nights, and the vendors and shoppers I get to meet.
A year ago, I opened a door. This year, I'm putting down roots.
If you're standing at your own doorway — wondering whether to say yes to the thing that's calling you — consider this your sign. The path to Know Thyself is the most demanding and most rewarding one you'll ever walk. While it is available for everyone, not everyone will choose the inner work.
And after 12 years training as a Healer Practitioner & Specialty Teacher, it's yet another beginning.
